About This Lesson

My classes love these math relay races:

  • I get relays printed in sets and laminated.
  • students work in pairs; run out to my desk; get Q1; attempt to solve it and use a whiteboard pen to write the answer on the card.
  • Students then bring the answer to me. If the students get the answer right,  then they get Q2. If  the answer is incorrect, then I might give them another shot.
  • Repeat!

Enjoy these math relay races?

Excellent resource. Classes really enjoyed the challenges and were enthusiastic about problems which would have been 'boring' in a textbook. Thank you.

Since we only have a few days until the end of the term I will not be able to use these resources this year, but I so look forward to utilizing them next year! Thank you for sharing such an abundance of materials and including answer keys. That is always a bonus!

I work full time as a Relief teacher and these are the most AMAZING resource. I have them all laminated and the kids really love them. Many, many thanks for your generosity.

I cannot be able to thank you enough for sharing such an amazing resource! I worked with high school kids who are between 3 to 4 grades below grade level, but are very competitive with each other. These relay-activities are the perfect tools to engage them, promote team work, and build confidence and thinking skills. Thank you so much!

This lesson plan is amazing.

This lesson plan is amazing. I will have to adjust this to Kindergarten but they love to race while moving around the room. I'm excited to use this activity for review.
