A "reading scales" activity. Find the capacity of each container by pouring it into the measuring jug and working out the value using the scale. The options screen gives a huge amount of control in terms of setting "reading scales" challenges. The jug can be set to have reasonably simple, labeled scales or quite complex, unlabeled ones. Get students to explain how they have deduced the answer. A simpler version of this activity works with just 10 intervals of 100ml.
Lovely interactive resource that can be adjusted to suit all abilities. Helps with reading different scales and understanding capacity, without getting wet! Capacities for each object do change each time, but there are no answers...you just have to keep trying and get them right!
