About This Lesson
A favorite story to read students in the winter is, The Mitten by Jan Brett. After reading the story several times, students tell a partner something that could fit in their stretched mitten. Students can either use inventive spelling or have the teacher write what could fit in their mitten for them. Students decorate the mitten and then cut out it and the words out and glue them into their journals.
