About This Lesson
This handout is about 3 hate crime murders that happened after the Civil Rights Movement "ended". I use it during my lynching lesson. I read each description to the class, and after each one, I ask them "based on what we've learned about lynchings, what year do think this happened in? Explain why you think this". When I've read all 3 and they've written down years they happened in, I then tell them the real years of these murders. You can hear a pin drop in that room.
