When solving word problems with trigonometry it is important to set up a right triangle and determine the given values and the missing value(s) that you need to solve for. In this series we look at creating triangles by using bearings, angles of depression and elevation. In this tutorial I show you how to find the angle of elevation when given the opposite side and adjacent side of a triangle. We will use the inverse tangent function to find our answer. This math problem was filmed during live instruction for class. This is my way of providing a free online tutorial for students that want to learn math from an online tutor.
