About This Lesson

http://www.freemathvideos.com In this video series I show you how to solve a system of equations using elimination. When using elimination we need to make sure that coefficients of the same variable are equal in absolute value. If they have the same sign then we subtract the equations. If they have opposite signs then we add the equations. If the variables do not have the same absolute value coefficients then we need to multiply one or both equations by a multiple to achieve this result. When combining the two equations we will eliminate a variable and then solve for the other. We then plug back the value of one variable into one of the original equations to find the value of the other variable.
