About This Lesson

Kindergartners often have trouble identifying the teen numbers. Copy eight sets of cards on cardstock and laminate. Deal three cards to each child and place the rest of the cards in a draw pile. Check to see if there any pairs of like numbers in your hand. Lay pairs face up together on the table. Each child takes turns asking someone for a number he/she needs. If the child has the card, it is given to the child making the request. If the child does not have the card, he/she says "Go Fish" and the requesting child takes a card from the draw pile. The child with the most pairs wins.

"Go Fish" is always a fan favorite. This is a fun engaging activity to practice recognizing written numerals. It also fosters social skills as the students have to work together to play the game. Thanks for sharing.
