Movement and Mood: How Physicality Helps Mental Wellbeing

High 5 Adventure Learning Center uses physical movement with students to provide grounding techniques that help them stay present with traumatic or stressful emotions. As mental health issues among young people surge, even a modest physical activity like stretching can create the needed support that allows students to recognize, reflect, and regulate their emotions – especially traumatic emotions like grief, anger, and feeling overwhelmed that have become especially acute during the pandemic.
