About This Lesson
This lesson is very full but is intended to allow for application of the unit conversions skills taught in Lesson 13. The teacher is encouraged to add or delete components of the lesson to meet the needs in each classroom. The primary problem is the Road Trip problem. In this problem scenario students are asked to determine which travel route is better given constraints. Each route involves measurements in different systems of measurement so comparison requires unit conversions using a calculator. This lesson is designed for students to struggle and also for them to use calculators.
