About This Lesson

Send the line moving back and forth, dropping the stacked numbers into place. This game practises place value, forcing constant comparisons between numbers and mental tracking of positions on a number line. This is part of a set of TESiboard games. The complete set includes versions that have number lines that step up in tens, units and 1,2,3 and 4 decimal places. One also shows vulgar fractions on the number tiles. All can be set to work with low numbers and high numbers providing further differentiation.

A activity which helps children recognise place value and ordering of 2-digit numbers (including negative numbers if required) by moving a number line forwards or backwards in order to 'drop' a given number in the correct place. Can be made easier by seeing all numbers in the moving number line, or harder by only seeing every 5th number.
