About This Lesson

What does an octopus eat? What is the favorite food of a sea otter? Students find
out by dissecting a gelatin-dessert-filled, plastic glove “stomach” of a marine
consumer. They identify what kind of consumer their marine animal is by
examining the prey items they discover in the stomach. Students draw a food
chain for their animal and then use it to construct a marine food web as a class.
