About This Lesson

This lesson includes both small and large group activities as well as direct instruction. It is designed to allow students to work together to engage with close reading and close viewing of two different sources on the founding of Rome. The teacher will then present a third theory to the class. The overall timing paced out for this lesson is more than 60 minutes. As a result, at various points throughout the lesson in the prep notes, it will notate where a good breaking point is should you choose to break up the lesson. Aligned to CCSS: RH.6-8.1, RH.6-8.2, RH.6-8.4, W.6.2
