This animation shows the effect of parallax between a 'nearby' star and a group of distance stars. The direction of the nearby
star when viewed from the Earth as it orbits the Sun changes during the year - the maximum difference being at points on the Earth's orbit six months apart. Half this difference is known as the of the star. As
the 'nearby star' moves away the parallax gets less.
