About This Lesson

This handout provides a breakdown of the 990 people who were killed by police via shooting in 2015. It is adapted from the Washington Post and breaks the data down by Age, Race, Gender, Weapon, Threat Level, and Mental Illness. I've included a space next to each category for students to brainstorm questions or comments which can then be a jumping off point for discussion, research, and analysis.

Love your assignments. I'm a new teacher (less than 1 year) at an at-risk school in AZ (criminal law and government). Love that your lessons are relevant to the students to pique their interests.
