About This Lesson
This handout starts by comparing capitalism and communism and having students brainstorm the benefits and harms of each system. Then, students read about five problems in Communist China in the late 1970s and three problems in the Soviet Union in the late 1970s/early 1980s. They need to explain how each of these problems would affect the people in those nations.
