About This Lesson

This activity divides the class into several groups - Progressive think tanks responsible for 1 of 5 problems caused by industrialization and 5 members of a congressional committee responsible for the same problems. The Think tanks must create policies that solve their problem utilizing experts (progressive era activists) to help them. The Congressmen must become experts in how these problems help or hurt both the rich and poor. Finally, at a Congressional hearing, the think tanks present their policies, the congressmen question them, and then vote on the policies.
