About This Lesson
I wrote this article to give students an understanding of where the modern concepts of race came from, how it was caused as a reaction to slavery and the Spanish colonial castas system, and how this reaction was a way to deal with the cognitive dissonance within the minds slave traders, slave owners, and leaders of colonial governments who advocated for slavery.
