Shankar Acharya was born in the village of Kaladi in Kerala, in Namboodari Brahmin family to Shiva Guru and his Aryamba. Shankar Acharya propagated the Adwitha philosophy according to which Brahmais the absolute truth, the rest of the world is false. The peethas that are set up by Shankar Acharya are:-Jyothir pith, Kalika, Sharada etc. 
 
Ramanujacharya was born in near Chennai to Keshava Somayaji and his wife Kantimati.Ramanujacharya taught the Mukti Marga or the road to salvation to the common people.
