About This Lesson
Seizure Training for Child Care Personnel allows affiliates to utilize a module for child care providers instructing them on proper seizure first aid for young children who may not be able to provide information about their conditions or participate in their treatment. The program is comprised of a facilitator’s guide, handouts, evaluation instruments, a CD-ROM with a PowerPoint presentation, a DVD, and parent resource materials
Childcare providers who complete this training will:
-Recognize Common Seizure types and their possible impact on children
-Identify and apply appropriate first aid
-Recognize when a seizure is a medical emergency
-Show social and Academic support
Through this program we also hope to dispel myths and reduce the perceived stigma associated with epilepsy within young children.
I have been working in Special Education for the past eleven years, mainly students with ASD. 60% of the student population suffers from seizure disorders. It is very important for the staff to be knowledgable. To me, any bit of information is valuable because there are always new studies going on. and we can learn from them.
