About This Lesson
This lesson is based on real data from Bimbia Bonadikombo Forest in Cameroon; where detailed botanical surveys have been undertaken by researchers associated with Limbe Botanic Gardens and regional Universities. This lesson aims to help students understand how local people both rely upon and threaten the biodiversity of a peri-urban forest in West Africa; and to understand how science informs forest conservation. Students engage with data collection methods and practice calculating an Index of Diversity with data collected using plots and quadrats.
