About This Lesson

Simulation of appointment to BIA for dealing with  finding solution for Comanche Indian. This is from library of Congress. I am noting very little material on or about the Comanche Indian, which I find problematic on many levels. I would go through their materials very carefully. I am very upset in the treatment of the primary resources of Native American Indians categorized under immigration...Maybe my time of life is making me more sensitized, but this is so blandly Eurocentric and false...Please promise to find more and other sources to add to this type of conversation. I firmly believe that it is important to teach about the Native American Indian.  It is a huge and very complex study, but focus on one small topic like this and share other points of view and sources of knowledge. I think it might be better if the simulation lens and purpose of the lesson/unit be winded especially if it was for a full class. I might use the primary documents as actual characters for each student to assume as a role in a hearing of the local community. Build and teach about the various native Americans (check about visiting tribe member etc...) that were active at that time frame and location. Be sure to assign those roles. Have them learn and try to see the world from their specific characters glasses. Enough said at least now you do not have to spend half a day tracting down and printing copies...
