About This Lesson

The founder of ganga dynasty are the descendants of the Ikshvaku dynasty. They ruled from kuvalala, talakadu and manyapura which is present day’s manne in Nelamangala and the rural district of Bangalore. The king had a council of ministers who supervised different branches of administration. The administration in the villages was very systematic of the village committee looked after land revenue, justice, sanitation and defense. The society was patriarchal and divided into different yet interdependent sects and castes.Talakudu, Shravanabelagola, Bankapura and Perur were the famous center of learning. Jainism flourished during their rule. A 58 foot monolithic idol of Gomateshwara was installed bat Shravanbelagola. Beautiful temples and Basadis like Kapileswara temple at manne, Pataleswara temple and Maruleswara temple at talakadu, kolaramma temple at Kolar , Nagareswara temple at Begur were built.
