About This Lesson

The following unit plan is designed for a Spanish 1 class. The goal is to introduce Spanish greetings and goodbyes where students use the appropriate use of vocabulary and grammar to communicate more effectively in Spanish.  In this 2-week plan, there are many learning strategies being used, including games in the classroom and in technology, as well as peer interactions. Below you will find a summary of the two-week unit plan and the lessons broken down onto daily lessons. Lesson topics that are including are self-introductions and responses, greetings and goodbyes depending on the time of the day, asking and responding where you or someone you know are from, and asking and responding in informal and formal form how are you doing. Spanish Culture is also integrated in the unit plan. Students will choose one of the 21 Spanish speaking countries to create dialogue skit scenarios; they must write and draw eight dialogues. Dialogues must match the vocabulary used in the Spanish Speaking country they chose.
