About This Lesson

Recent developments in education reform have built on the emphasis of standardized testing and new academic standards. A growing opposition to standardized testing has prompted some state and federal leaders to imply that funding could be withheld from schools or states that don’t comply with federal testing mandates. Have students learn the various positions by watching C-SPAN videos, reading related articles, using our lesson plan, and then engage in a deliberation to answer the question: Should Congress continue to require annual standardized tests for all students?
