Unfortunately the opening puzzle is flawed in that there is no unique answer. These are both possible: 7 8 4 1 9 6 5 2 3 and 7 4 8 5 9 6 1 2 3 (I can't check the others since the new version of Office doesn't permit VB macros.)

A superb number puzzle which would be absolutely ideal for a top set as a starter activity. This is a sudoku-ish style puzzle but is very clear to understand and provides a variety of questions, along with answers. Fantastic.
