About This Lesson
I have a superhero theme going all year in my classroom. All fall, I teach my students as many high frequency words as I can. I call them "popcorn words" since they pop up all the time in books we read. Starting in January, I send home word lists for the children to practice at home. Once the child can read all the words easily, the parents sign off on the list and it is returned to school. The child then reads the list to me and if done effortlessly, he/she receives a "fabulous" prize from my prize box.
