About This Lesson

Students will use their senses of sight and touch to pay close attention to the textures, shapes, and sizes of objects out of which they drink. They will then learn about the Japanese tea bowls and relate what they see to their initial exploration of drinking vessels. Putting these two experiences together, students will have an opportunity to make tea bowls of their own by incorporating one of the methods used by the artists of the Japanese tea bowls.
