About This Lesson

Part of the 2019 AFT TEACH Conference.

This workshop focuses on Reality Pedagogy, or RP, which is; an approach to teaching and learning that provides educators with seven practical tools for improving their practice. The tools of RP are designed to support every educator across any subject area in becoming more effective in transforming their classrooms. RP consists of co-generative dialogues, co-teaching, cosmopolitanism, context, content, competition and curation and are the pillars of Emdin's book, For White Folks Who Teach In The Hood … and the Rest of Ya’ll Too.

Presenter: Chris Emdin, associate professor, Teachers College, Columbia University, and founder, #HipHopEd
