About This Lesson
Thingdom challenges students to select and breed 'Things' to bring out particular characteristics for example by predicting the outcomes from monohybrid crosses.
Use it as a starting point for discussion about the inheritance of genetic disorders, the ethics of genetic screening, variation amongst species and/or evolution through natural selection.
The game is supported by a handout to help students focus on the key learning, and a short film showing how teachers from Phoenix High School used Thingdom in their classroom teaching and their STEM Club.
Fun activity for pupils. Shows clearly the chance of getting certain traits and why. Love the competition aspect and how they can impress their mate. Thanks!
