About This Lesson
This timeline shows the isolationist policies of the Tokugawa Shogunate (aklong with a questions asking students about the benefits and harms of this policy), then the US and European Imperialism in Japan, the Meiji Restoration period (with a question asking students how these improvements would help Japan catch up to the West) and a timeline of Japanese imperialism with a map showing US and Japanese colonies, and then posing the question of why Japan would have bombed Pearl Harbor (based on the map).
