About This Lesson

This is a 2 week unit plan geared toward 11th-12th grade high school Psychology students. The lessons are meant to help enhance the mental health literacy of adolescent students. This is the time of the life-span in which the diagnoses of mental disorders begins to increase dramatically and it is essential for young people to be able to have the knowledge, attitudes, and competencies to help themselves and others if necessary. Students will learn how to optimize and maintain good mental health, understand how mental disorders and their treatments, decrease stigma, and enhance help seeking efficacy (knowing when and where to get help and having the skills necessary to promote self-care and how to obtain good care). This unit will help prepare students in each of these domains.

Awesome lesson, thank you so

Awesome lesson, thank you so much! I am teaching English Language Learners who might not yet be ready to tackle this lesson unit as a whole, but we will definitely able to use parts of it! In my class, we always recognize the importance of addressing mental health in adolescences and adults. We read the latest articles on the subject or discuss students' actual life experiences. I love that you included the vocabulary for your unit as well, it is very handy and customizable!
