About This Lesson
Upstanders is a Starbucks original collection of short stories, films and podcasts sharing the experiences of Upstanders – ordinary people doing extraordinary things to create positive change in their communities. This effort reminds us that we all have the power to make a difference, and it inspires us to be better citizens.
Each story has an accompanying discussion guide. These guides are designed to help educators to use the Upstanders stories as a springboard for deeper learning about the issues our country faces and strategies we can all use to address them.
Our country faces tremendous challenges and deep divisions today. We can't ignore those. But we can't be paralyzed by them either. The Upstanders campaign helps us to generate new narratives of citizen power – and to spread the know-how that's needed to fulfill our potential as changemakers.
