About This Lesson

Every year, we celebrate Valentine’s Day on February 14th. While St. Valentine’s feast day may be associated with courtly love, it’s also a great day to celebrate love in general and the importance of loving one another. In school, Valentine’s Day can serve as a perfect opportunity to delve into social-emotional learning by teaching about the importance of self-love and love for those in their school community. In this lesson, students will explore the themes of self-love and friendship through creative activities, discussions, and a brief history of St. Valentine’s Day.
