About This Lesson

In this video John Green teaches you about the War of 1812. The War of 1812 was fought between the United States and its former colonial overlord England. It started in, you guessed it 1812. The war lasted until 1815, and it resolved very little. John will take you through the causes of the war, tell you a little bit about the fighting itself, and get into just why the US Army couldn't manage to make any progress invading Canada. And yes, Canadians, we're going to talk about the White House getting burned down.

Informative and very high interest videos. Great to introduce a topic or for use in a flipped classroom, very fast pasted some student may have problems processing information

The animation in this video is helpful, but he speaks quickly. If you use this in the classroom, make sure to chunk the video--stop it at certain points to discuss what is being said and have the students take notes. This will ensure students understand. I agree with the intelligent vwtheresa below that this would be useful in a flipped classroom or to introduce the content.
