In 1972, five men associated with the Nixon administration were caught breaking into the Democratic National Committee headquarters at the Watergate complex in Washington, D.C. The break-in and subsequent cover-up lead to the Senate Watergate Committee hearing and the eventual resignation of President Nixon.
