About This Lesson

Science shows there are six elements of wellbeing, known as PERMA+: Positive Emotions, Engagement, Relationships, Mattering, Accomplishment, and +Health. This file folder activity will help students identify what each element of PERMA+ looks like (or doesn't look like) in various photos (e.g., positive emotions vs. negative emotions, engaged vs. not engaged, etc).

Choose one element of PERMA+. Instruct students to identify a photo within the given element of PERMA+. Does the photo represent a positive emotion or a negative emotion? Does it show someone engaged or not engaged? Does the photo show accomplishment or not accomplishment? Do this for each element of PERMA+.

This activity can be utilized for independent work systems, file folders, work baskets, morning work, generalization of concepts, and even direct instruction, discrete trials, and more!

Here’s what you’ll get:

  • 10 colored, printable photos for each element of PERMA+ (60 photos total)
  • Printable ID Cards for each element of PERMA+ for students to ID photos
  • Access to PERMA+ Snapshot lesson plans and a unit study

Why you’ll love these sorting cards:

* The activity is easy to read and implement.

* You can use this resource as a standalone activity or as part of a comprehensive, science-based unit study.

* The associated free unit study for PERMA+ Snapshot comes with IEP and BIP recommendations tailored specifically to students with autism
