About This Lesson
This is a fun activity to do during a Bus Safety unit. After singing the Wheels on the Bus song several times, I tell the students we are going to make a silly book. Each child complete a page by writing his/her name on the first line, and then inserting the first letter in his/her name on the next two lines. The kids think it's a hoot to hear the various substituted phoneme versions. (i.e. The wheels on Mary's bus go mumpity-mump all through the town.)
