About This Lesson
Student handout that asks them to explain the factors needed for a new settlement and make a decision on where the best place for a settlement is; based on a fictional map (included). Works well for grades 6-8 either as part of a lesson on site/situation
I thoroughly enjoyed this lesson! Ironically, I used one almost exactly like it that I created about 2 years ago for my seventh graders. They were learning about the Age of Exploration and they had to critically think about where the settlers had to chose to live at. The students LOVED it and were really interested; it was a great opener to the unit. I highly suggest using this lesson.
