About This Lesson

In this lesson, students work in groups to complete a “case study” activity examining the
Fourth and Fifth Amendments through the cases of Olmstead vs. U.S. (1928) andKatz vs. U.S. (1967), which overturned the Olmstead case. In this lesson, students also investigate current trends in government surveillance of individuals and the right of privacy and protection against unreasonable search as defined in the Fourth Amendment to the United States Constitution.
