About This Lesson

In this lesson, students analyze the story of a contemporary group using the First Amendment to make a change. They chart the First Amendment freedoms their case study uses, then evaluate the case study’s success and create a revised or extended plan of action. After discussion of their findings and ideas, students select one action to pursue, and they document their efforts to put the First Amendment to work.
