About This Lesson
In this activity, students use NewseumED's timeline of the women’s suffrage movement to explore continuity and change throughout history. Using the timeline’s primary and secondary sources, students gather information on the key attributes of the movement during specific time periods from the founding of our nation through the passage of the 19th Amendment. Students work as a class to chart which elements of the movement evolved and which remained constant across the time periods, and then make claims about the possible reasons behind their findings.
