A ten-year educator at The Wossman High School, Mr. Justin Craig Overacker is a tenth grade English Language Arts teacher and a product of the Monroe City School District. “Do justice, love mercy, and walk humbly with Christ”—Mista O’s motto illuminates his teaching, his philosophy, his every moment with tomorrow’s future. From Shakespeare to 2Pac Shakur and Kafka to Kendrick Lamar, Mista O’s sole mission is facilitating students’ building of meaning and knowledge around nuanced and complex texts so they can analyze the human truths and motivations inherent in their lives. Mista O is witness to a perspicacious renaissance in Excelsior and pride in the last five years at Wossman as the school has risen to a B school grade and had the most progress growth out of the entire state of Louisiana last school year in ninth and tenth grade ELA last year! An ELA Content Leader, Mentor Teacher, LDOE ELA Assessment Reviewer, and International Literacy Association committee member, Mista O stays current on policy and practice while always cherishing education’s most valuable resource: our children—and his Wildcats are the best in the state and the nation!
