Monique Boone has served in education for 17+ years. Her dedication to literacy, equity, diversity, and inclusivity has spanned from her work as a classroom teacher, to her service as an ELAR Teacher Development Specialist in the largest school district in Texas, to her leadership as the Pk-12 ELAR Coordinator for Channelview ISD, to her national research, training, and curriculum development with the American Federation of Teachers Professional Development Program for Educators’ Identity Affirming Classrooms Team. Monique is also a founding partner with For The Culture Literacy Development Educational Consulting Company. Boone continues to work tirelessly to increase literacy skills and a love for reading in historically marginalized communities. It is her passion to equip educators with the tools needed that ensure students get an education that is literacy-rich, equitable, diverse, and inclusive in ALL classrooms around the world. Monique Boone is the recent recipient of the 2022 TCTELA Mercedes Bonner Leadership Award for her dedication to multicultural education. It is Ms. Boone’s belief that leaving her literacy legacy will continue to liberate the oppressed and transcend generations.
