DISABILITY EQUALITY IN EDUCATION is an organization led by people with disabilities to open up the conversation about disability in the classroom and thus reduce the stigma of disability.
Through our free website we provide educators with lesson plans aligned to the Pennsylvania core standards, book lists, films and other resources that teachers can use to educate all K to 12 students about disability. As we are led by people with disabilities we provide a disability lens which ensures that the resources we provide have been reviewed by disabled people.
We also help schools and school districts to create a calendar of events in their schools which recognizes and values students with disabilities and teaches that disability is a natural part of the human condition.
We provide professional development for educators online around the use of positive language the elimination of stereotypes and a social model of disability.
