Meet the AFT Science Cadre
The AFT Science Cadre began its voyage in 2011 with the mission of bringing teacher voice to the development of the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). The crew selected to carryout this mission came highly recommended by their local and/or state federation president for their leadership and expertise in teaching science across all grade levels and disciplines.
Once this mission was accomplished, the cadre was charged with elevating the importance of science education for ALL students and creating professional learning opportunities and resources for teachers. They have presented at the AFT’s bi-annual TEACH Conference, designed science-related brochures and model lessons exemplifying 3-dimensional learning outlined in the National Research Council’s Framework for K-12 Science Education: Practices, Crosscutting Concepts and Core Ideas.
Be sure to check out the lesson plans created by the AFT Science Cadre for Amazon Studios film, "The Aeronauts."
