My journey began with a love for family and blossomed into a passion for teaching. Despite starting my teaching career later than most, I embraced the opportunity with open arms and a determined heart.
After spending precious time at home with my children, I discovered a new calling while substitute teaching at my son's school and decided to pursue my passion for education by taking classes at Northeastern State University. Juggling the responsibilities of parenthood and studies, I persisted, driven by a desire that I could really make a difference.
In 2007, I achieved a significant milestone by earning a Bachelor's degree in Secondary Math Education, becoming the first in my family to attend college and graduate. This accomplishment was a testament to perseverance, dedication and an enormous amount of support from my husband and kids.
Fueled by a new found love for teaching, I continued my education, earning a Master's degree in Secondary Education in 2017. Equipped with knowledge and compassion, I have had a successful teaching career spanning 17 years thus far, hopefully leaving a lasting impact on my students.
During my time at Salina High School, I wrote several grants including one for the Summer Bridge to Algebra program. Then after 7 years, I began a new role as a Retention Coordinator for OSU-IT – Pryor where I was responsible for guiding and inspiring students to overcome challenges and reach their potential.
Today, I continue to inspire future educators as the Teacher Prep Instructor at Northeast Tech, supported by my loving family—husband Tony, son Dalton and his wife Ashton, daughter Sarah and her husband Dylan, and two adorable grandsons. My journey is a testament to the power of passion, perseverance, and the transformative impact of education.
