2021 AFT TEACH Conference

I am Linda Horsley-Johnson from Cincinnati Public Schools. I currently teacher 4th grade mathematics and science, and I am looking forward to learning how to get project based learning back into the classrooms post-COVID interruptions. I am also looking to toward being a better abolitionist teacher as Dr. Bettina Love has outlined.

I am hoping to learn more strategies to accelerate student learning following the pandemic and integrating Civics learning into the classroom, especially since we are working to set up our local criteria for the CA State Seal of Civic Engagement.

I love my job and am looking forward to being back in the building, being able to make connections with kids in person! I know they will need a lot of encouragement and support when we turn to brick and mortar education.

I am a high school English teacher and am looking forward to learning about new tools and techniques.

I am looking forward to seeing topics focused on literacy and math exploration for our youngest learners. I am also interested in hearing about effective parent engagement strategies that leverage the power of the parent as the first teacher, particularly in the current climate, but overall as a largely untapped resource on a consistent basis with predictable outcomes.

I am Genetra N. Robinson from Jackson, MS representing Local #4402 American Federation of Teachers Jackson. I’m so excited foe this year’s TEACH Conference! This will be my 2nd one!

My name is Theresa Bruce and I am an educator in Baltimore City Public Schools. I am a middle school Social Studies teacher. I am looking forward to connecting with fellow educators invested in dismantling the white supremacy culture within the education system as well as concerned about student and teacher wholeness. I hope the sessions on student/educator well being and creating anti racist classrooms will do this. Additionally, I am very interested in content related sessions such as those for civic education.
