About This Lesson

This is a first grade ELA Unit, Lesson 1 out of 12. All About Living Things: Learning to Navigate and Create Informational Texts - From Fact to Fiction. This lesson supports students as they learn the differences between books that tell stories and books that give information. Because this is the beginning of the unit and the school year, it is just beginning to draw on a range of text types. Students will gain a greater understanding of the characteristics of informational text as they go through this unit. Aligned to Common Core State Standards: RI.K.1 , RI.K.5 , RI.1.1 , R.1 , RL.1.5
