About This Lesson
In this 90-minute lesson, students will continue to develop self-awareness and self-management skills to achieve school and life success. This SEL lesson will give students the opportunity to explore their pre-conceived notions about reading while learning how to annotate a text in order to achieve success and increase comprehension. This lesson begins with a reading survey to discuss student attitudes about reading and gives step-by-step instructions on how to annotate a passage while at the same time allows students to reflect on each step of the process. Annotated texts are included in the lesson as a model to students. This lesson is aligned to the Common Core State Standards for the 11-12th grade band.
