About This Lesson
In this lesson, students will walk through all 3 types of heat transfer experiments. This lesson takes more than a day to complete. Students rotate between stations. Originally 15 minutes was given per station, but they needed more time. The handouts are in Spanish also. Station D is a little too long to do, and could be cut. However, there is a briefing that you can print out on the website that students can follow to actually go through a virtual lab process. Station E could be used for homework instead. Students actually finished this station pretty fast.
I like this. I did a similar lesson for a 9th grade physical science class and I like the method of this one better. However, some suggestions:
1) For Station C there may be a copy/paste error for step 3. I believe it is superfluous.
2) I am unclear as to the procedure for Station D. Is it supposed to be unguided inquiry? Is there background information we should know about?
3) For Station E, I am unclear of the full purpose. Again there appears to be steps missing. Furthermore, I would change the picture of the hand over the electric stove element - I believe it invites unnecessary danger from imitation.
